My skin journey

When I was younger, skincare was a way for me to get prettier. Thinking back, it was the wrong way to think about skincare, but at the same time, now I have grown to really love skincare.

These days I don't like using too much makeup, so I try to make my skin look as good as it can. I love trying out new products, seeing the results, pampering myself, discovering interesting ingredients that go into products, and watching tutorials around skincare. It's something that I have found to be really fun, and I have grown to become obsessed with it over the years.

Skincare Products I Can't live without

I definitely can’t live without these products...

- Toner: Origin's Mega-Mushroom Relief & Resilience Soothing Treatment Lotion is my holy grail toner! I've used up three of these :)

- Sunscreen: I love KraveBeauty's The Beet Shield! I really love how it isn't greasy and how a little amount can go such a long way. Admittedly, I was quite shocked at how little the bottle was but realized that only a little is needed for my whole face, neck, and chest.

- Sleeping mask: These are two of my favorites. Laneige's Water Sleeping Mask leaves my skin so soft, smooth and clear! Also, Innisfree's Aloe Revital Sleeping Pack really soothes my skin and calms down any pimples.

What #PressReset means to me

For me, #PressReset is a fresh start.

It means leaving behind the bad and looking forward to the good that is coming! Not only for skincare but I think mentally as well. It’s important to tell myself to start fresh and face my challenges, and that it’s okay to start again.

For example, doing my skincare routine helps improve my mental health. It really helps me feel better and relieve my stress! It's a period of time I can just focus on myself and making my skin better. Especially since it's a routine, there's a comfortable familiarity to it.

How I #PressReset Beyond Beauty

For me, health definitely includes both mental and physical aspects.

When it comes to mental health, it means that I take care of myself and I give myself some self-love. I know when to work hard, and also when to give myself time to rest and forgive myself for things!

For physical health, I approach it with the concept of treating my body well. Feeding myself healthy food so that my body can work well but also treating myself once in a while. Exercising is a big part of it, and I feel that it makes me feel stronger, not only physically but mentally as well. And I feel great when I see improvement!

Moreover, I also try to eat as healthy as I can! I say "try" because I love my fried food and my pizza, but I do my best to strike a balance.

What I've been loving

Makeup

Benefit Goof Proof Eyebrow Pencil! I naturally have very sparse eyebrows, so a good eyebrow pencil is important for me.

Books

“Ponti!” by Sharlene Teo. I really enjoyed it because it was by a local author and there were lots of local slang and references which I don’t normally find in other books.

Workout

I love yoga and boxing! I started exercising mid-2018 through a few trial classes.

I started feeling better, stronger and I really liked that feeling so I continued working out.

Boxing is a time for me to let out all my stress, and just take it out on a punching bag as well as train myself to be stronger. Yoga helps to calm my mind, and also literally stretch my limits. When I'm doing yoga, I feel that it is purely my time and I get to just release everything and be in my own bubble, which is why it's so relaxing.

Lifestyle

Netflix is my stress reliever! When I'm watching Netflix I get really immersed in the shows and I tend to forget everything that happens around me. When the show ends, I snap back into reality and I realize my difficulties aren't that hard to solve after all, and I feel much better.
